Text.Emotional needs represent the unstated desires of how consumers want to feel about buying from a company. Five needs are common across any culture: Trust, Precision, Connection, Variety and Stability. Because each need is bi-polar, the only “right” end for companies to capture is where expectations reside. Emotional Gaps measure the size difference between expectations and delivery. An emotion being fully met has a zero gap, with too little emotion a positive gap and too much a negative gap. The Emotional Needs chart show the level of expectations and delivery for each need at the company and category level.
