Retailers Emphasize Customer Knowledge
With his new study, Williams sees most retail growth coming from the Internet. Despite a plunge in revenue from 2000 to 2002, Internet retail grew 40 percent over the past year, while mass merchants (10 percent) and apparel stores (7.6 percent) paled in comparison.

According to “Retail Demand 2005: Emerging Consumer Desires in the Retail Sector,” a study released today by Adjoined Research, nearly 80% of consumers use physical stores, on line, and catalogs interchangeably. This is up from 57% a year ago, according to the independent research study.
